The winner of the Hugo van Poelgeest prize for alternatives to animal testing has been announced! On October 2nd, the prize of € 3,000 was awarded to a young researcher who is conducting excellent, animal-free research in the life sciences.

With his research into human heart models, Berend has shown that he has a vision of what the future may look like and he is setting the foundation for realizing this. In addition, the young researcher ensures awareness of the subject by publishing extensively in scientific journals and regularly gives lectures to a wider audience.
